Wild Card Preview

The postseason is here! The 2021 playoffs get underway with the American League Wild Card game tonight between the Yankees and the Red Sox. Gerrit Cole takes the mound against the Red Sox powerful offense, while Nathan Eovaldi will face the Yankees' sluggers.

 

Wednesday presents another exciting matchup as the Dodgers host the Cardinals in the NL Wild Card game. Aces Max Scherzer and Adam Wainwright will take the mound looking to advance to the NLDS. 

 

Trey and I break down each of these matchups and give our predictions for this year's Wild Card games on today's episode of the podcast. Tune in !

We're about two weeks away from the end of the 2021 regular season, and there are some very exciting playoff races to keep an eye on right now. The teams atop the NL West are separated by just one game, and they each have important series coming up. Will the Giants surprise everyone and come out on top, or will the Dodgers show their strength and win their 9th straight division title?

 

Plus, three teams from the AL East are all vying for the AL Wild Card race. Can the Yankees stop the surging Blue Jays and hang on to make the postseason? All of this discussion and plenty more on today's episode!

Predicting the 2022 HOF Class

The 2020 Hall of Fame class was inducted in Cooperstown this past week, which got us thinking - which players could end up in the Hall next year? Newcomers on the list include Ryan Howard, Prince Fielder and Tim Lincecum, among many others. Then of course there are the holdovers from previous years like Barry Bonds, Curt Schilling and Scott Rolen. Trey and I go through some of the players with the best cases and determine whether or not we think they will end up in the Hall of Fame.

 

Plus, the wild card races are heating up in each league, with the Blue Jays making a run at the Yankees' position as the second AL Wild Card team. Can the Yanks hold on to that spot or will Toronto over take them by the end of the season? All that and more on today's episode!

Life as a Mets Fan

The Mets have been one of the more intriguing stories of the 2021 MLB season. From all the moves they made during the offseason, to being in first place at the halfway point, to their August collapse, they've provided plenty to talk about. Now that they're in the news with their recent thumbs down antics, the players are taking it to a whole other level. Trey Lyle sat down with Mets fan and co-host of The Drive on ESPN Blacksburg Andrew Alix to talk about life as a Mets fan.

 

Plus, the Giants have finally fallen from their might position atop the NL West, although it didn't last long. The Dodgers took a half-game lead in the division on Wednesday, but the Giants' win over Milwaukee on Thursday brought the teams to a tie. Who will come out on top at the end of the season? Wild Card Races Heating Up

The Yankees are on a roll, winning 12 straight games and taking over the top Wild Card spot in the American League. But do they have what it takes to overcome the Rays, or will they have to fight off the A's to hold on to their current situation?

Meanwhile in the National League, the Padres have fallen out of Wild Card contention, with the Reds taking their place as the second team. Can the Padres fight their way back into a postseason spot, or are they finished? We discuss all of these questions and more on today's episode.

New CBA Proposal, Braves and Yankees Surging

We're nearing the end of August and both the Braves and the Yankees are playing really good baseball. Neither Trey nor I thought our teams would have a shot at the postseason after the way their seasons started, but things are looking up, and they may just be the hottest teams in baseball at the moment. 

 

Plus, MLB has reportedly given the players union its first Collective Bargaining Agreement proposal, and it's got some interesting details. We go into what we think of the proposal, and whether or not it would be good for the game. All that and more on today's episode!
